Sharp, well-balanced and tough. This is how I describe this knife. It has become my all-purpose utility knife for years and it never failed me.
One note though. You need to properly handle this knife and familiarize yourself in using it. I’ve had two occasions wherein I was puncturing a rubber trekking sandal in the field to repair it and I accidentally pushed the lock and the blade folded causing an injury. The other one was when I was cutting wood into small pieces and I accidentally pushed the lock again. It was my fault and I was careless. I hope the lock in future designs will have a mechanism to prevent the accidental push but again as with any sharp tool, proper handling is the responsibility of the user.
Durability is excellent. I haven’t had the need to sharpen the blade ever since I purchased the Bear Grylls Folding Sheath Knife 4 years ago.
I rate the Bear Grylls Folding Sheath Knife 4 stars out of 5 stars. The handle tends to be slippy when wet. I hope Gerber will be able to formulate a material to eliminate this.
Overall this is a solid performing knife and when the going gets tough, you can rely on the Bear Grylls Folding Sheath Knife.
