Grand Shimano XC Race 2018 – La Mesa Nature Reserve – April 15, 2018

Malapit na 40km Finish Line… Padyak pa more!!!!

The Grand Shimano XC Race is a popular race among beginner and novice XC racers but pro’s are very much welcome.

One thing I liked was that this event was orderly. The waves were not over-crowded. The race started on-time. The release per wave was spaced enough to avoid total chaos. Marshals were visible along the race route.

I was looking forward to experience this event. Three of my buddies from Calaca Batangas (Raul, Adryan and Randolph) and one buddy from Manila (JM) joined me in the 40kms event. They were all in Wave A. Being the oldie I was in Wave B hehe.

The race route was superb. It was the perfect balance of fire road and single track. The uphill and downhill parts were also balanced. The ramps were just enough to give you a jolt while going downhill and because of this I was able to do two high-speed jumps!!! It was fun haha. The turns in the single-track were still challenging specially during high-speed. The uphill parts were just enough to keep your heart pounding. Perfect for a speedy XC race.

The only gripe I had was that I am still not used to riders suddenly stopping in front of me and because of this I lost my momentum lots of times on the uphills. Fortunately on the downhills I did not experience this problem and I pretty much enjoyed the high-speed downhill parts ๐Ÿ™‚

Overall the Grand Shimano XC Race in La Mesa Nature Reserve was great! I could have wished that there were more booths but I was contented of what I have seen and experienced during the event.

Kudos to the organizers! Congratulations to all who joined ๐Ÿ™‚ Big congratulations to all podium finishers ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚
